Planned Giving: FAQs
Who can make a planned gift?
Anyone who wants to leave a legacy and make an impact on their community can make a planned gift. No matter where you are in your life, it is never too early or late to decide to include a gift in your will. A bequest in your will of any size will make a difference here at Hartford Habitat and to our hard-working families who need decent, affordable housing.
Where does my gift go?
When you make Hartford Habitat a part of your estate plan, it goes toward building the future of our community. As you give throughout your lifetime and after, those gifts continue to generate mortgages for families in our community. It is a gift that will impact not only one family, but many families and generations to come.
What are some benefits to a bequest?
Simplicity. Just a few sentences in your will or trust are all that is needed.
Flexibility. Because you are not actually making a gift until after your lifetime, you can change your mind at any time.
Versatility. You can structure the bequest to leave a specific item or amount of money, make the gift contingent on certain events, or leave a percentage of your estate to us.
Tax Relief. If your estate is subject to estate tax, your gift is entitled to an estate tax charitable deduction for the gift's full value.
