The Travelers Insurance Company has been an integral part of the greater Hartford community since 1864.
Committed to “giving back” to the communities in which its employees live and work, the Travelers provides support to thousands of charitable organizations through its Foundation each year. The employees who work at the Hartford office are actively involved in local initiatives that support education, neighborhood development and the arts, and donate thousands of hours of volunteer time to area non-profits. In 2008, the Travelers charitable contributions exceeded $19 million.
Travelers has been a huge supporter of Hartford Habitat for more than fifteen years. They made their first contribution to our affiliate in 1994 and have since donated over $350,000.00 to help us build decent, affordable housing for hard-working families. Travelers recently committed $75,000.00 to the Guilford Street Building project in Hartford’s Clay Arsenal neighborhood. This summer, dozens of Travelers employees will join forces with Habitat volunteers, staff and future homeowners to begin swinging hammers and raising walls in order to make the dream of homeownership a reality for seven deserving families.
Without the support of organizations like the Travelers, Habitat would be hard-pressed to fulfill its mission of building affordable housing for working families in the greater Hartford community.
