Goergette Bonner

Georgette was born in St. Catherine, Jamaica. Having lost her mother at age 12, Georgette’s father sent for Georgette to come live with him and his new wife in New York. Life without her birth mother proved hard for Georgette in her teen years. Georgette’s cousins, Martin and Otis, welcomed her to their home in Hartford.
With her cousins’ guidance, Georgette worked at an area grocery store and continued to aspire for more. Georgette’s passion for helping people and health care, led her to continue her education at Data Institute, graduating in 1998. For the past six years, Georgette finds much fulfillment maintaining her employment as a CNA in Windsor helping to care for elderly Alzheimer’s patients.
Georgette is a proud mother of two daughters, Anye, age 4, and Amanda, age 9. Georgette loves being a mother, embracing every moment she has with her daughters. Georgette longs to provide her family with a home of their own, something her mother did not have the chance to do.
Making Hartford her hometown now, Georgette looks forward to owning a safe home and yard for her young daughters to play and grow up in. In addition to working and maintaining a family, Georgette remains a strong force in her daughters’ education, staying active in their school’s PTA. Georgette is also an active member in her church, where she has been a member for years. When Georgette became aware of Habitat for Humanity, she saw the dream to own her home come closer to reality. Georgette’s willingness to learn, determination, and hard work, make her a primary candidate for housing with Habitat.
