House of Faith

Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity's House of Faith, an expansion of its former "House of Abraham" program, is a partnership of multiple Greater Hartford faith communities working collaboratively to sponsor and build homes for low-income, hardworking families in need of safe, decent and affordable homes. This partnership is an opportunity for faith communities to provide the volunteer labor and financial support to build much needed homes, while at the same time come together to participate in activities fostering open dialogue and cross-faith understanding.

The 2012 House of Faith program is centered around Hartford Habitat's South Marshall Street development of sixteen townhomes. This development is part of Habitat's "Community Collaboration for Positive Change" in this section of Hartford's Asylum Hill neighborhood. One of the townhomes is designated as the House of Faith to be funded and built by area faith communities.

Building on Faith

This summer, between July 10 - 14, Hartford Habitat is holding a 'Building on Faith' week. During this time, we would like to get 30-45 volunteers per day from area faith groups to come out and build together. In collaboration, we will be working on the 'House of Faith' on South Marshall Street in Hartford.

Beyond the Construction Site

Besides construction volunteers, Hartford Habitat is also looking for Faith Groups to host interfaith forums and socials. Faith leaders are also invited to become part of a Speakers Bureau to discuss interfaith collaboration to faith groups throughout Greater Hartford.
