Thrivent
Through Thrivent Builds Homes, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will sponsor the construction of hundreds of additional Habitat for Humanity homes every year in the United States by combining the efforts of 2.8 million Thrivent Financial members with Lutheran congregations and institutions, communities, partner families and Habitat affiliates. More than two-thirds of the funding for each home will be contributed by Thrivent Financial, its members and local chapters. The remaining funding will be raised through the ongoing efforts of local Lutheran congregations and Habitat affiliates.
Since 1991, Thrivent Financial and its members have worked with Habitat for Humanity to build more than 500 homes, raise more than $25 million and contribute more than 1.4 million volunteer hours in homebuilding time.
Construction has just begun on 192 Laurel Street in Hartford. Locally, this is our third Thrivent Builds home; the first was completed in Hartford and the second house was completed in New Britain.
Meet the Lebron Family
Nick and Melitza Lebron and their 3 children are thrilled to be involved in the Habitat Program. They have very strong roots in the city and have been involved in many community organizations from coaching in the Saturday Hoopsters basketball program, umpiring baseball in the South End, and serving on the Board of Directors for the Prudence Crandall Domestic Violence Services. They are very excited to be building in Hartford and look forward to being homeowners in the city they love.
Their son Nick Jr. lives with Aspergers Disease and is a High School Freshman who has received a Science award and loves running on his schools cross country team.
Daughter Savannah is also a Freshman who has an infectious smile. She is an honor student and English is her favorite subject.
Daughter Jennika is a Sophmore who is also on the honor roll and is a Math wiz. She is also the family IT person.
They feel that the Habitat for Humanity home ownership program is an investment in themselves and their family and are very grateful and look forward to staying involved and partnering with future families.
