Event Information
Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity has embarked on a new journey in partnership with the Christian, Muslim and Jewish faith communities in Greater Hartford building a “House of Abraham”. The sponsoring faith communities
have been providing the volunteer and financial support needed to build this home. Additionally, these communities
have participated in opportunities, both on and off the worksite, designed to foster open dialogue and understanding of the three Abrahamic faiths.
Local Muslim, Jewish and Christian faith communities have committed to raising $75,000 for full house sponsorship.
The following faith communities have committed time, talent and treasure to this great project:
• Immanuel Congregational Church Hartford, CT
• Archdiocese of Hartford, CT
• Muslim Coalition of Connecticut
• Jewish Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford
• Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Hartford
• Rocky Hill Congregational Church
• First Church of Christ, Congregational, 1652 Farmington, CT
• Enfield Congregational Church Enfield, CT
• The Congregational Church in South Glastonbury, CT
• St. John’s Episcopal Church, West Hartford, CT
The project kicked off last July with a wall raising for the home which
is being built on 21 Loomis Street in Hartford. Representatives from the faith communities involved
were on hand to celebrate the beginning of construction in partnership
with the future homeowners.
