Women Build
Much more than a simple building project, Women Build brings women together
to create something special, a home for a working family. Whether
as a member of the construction crew, a support team member or raising
funds for the project, women
have created amazing results while engaging in activities that inspire a
sense of community.
We believe that everyone deserves to live in simple, decent housing on
terms they can afford. It’s a moral outrage that this occurs in the
richest state in America.
The Habitat for Humanity “Women Build” program gives women the
opportunity to do something about it. Women have built over 450 Habitat
houses nationwide, including four in Hartford.
A Women Build project is not intended to exclude men. Rather, it is
designed to provide a safe and encouraging “female friendly”
environment where women feel comfortable learning and performing home
construction. By encouraging women to volunteer for Habitat, we will
increase the number of experienced volunteers enabling us to build more
homes with hard-working families in need in greater Hartford.
