Individual Volunteers

We welcome volunteers of all skill levels and interests into our Habitat family!

The process begins when a prospective volunteer completes an online profile on our Volunteer Hub area.  Assignments are posted on the calendar depending on our availability and according to the construction phase we are in at the moment.

Once a prospective volunteer has created his or her profile, it is important to get familiar with the Habitat Key Points

Individual Volunteer Release Waiver: The release waiver is for all volunteers wanting to participate in our construction projects. Please print this waiver, complete legibly and in its entirety, and turn in to the construction superintendent at job site. If you are part of a group, please add the group name.

PLEASE NOTE:

Unless a minor is in part of a youth group (school/faith organization) all construction volunteers ages 16 & 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times while volunteering at the worksites.
The minimum age requirement for youth volunteers is 16 years old to be on the job site - No exceptions.

**The maximum number of volunteers per group is 10.  We are also asking now that every group coordinator tries his/her best to bring 1 skilled volunteer for every 3-4 unskilled volunteers. These skilled volunteers will work closely with the Construction Supervisor as Crew Leaders.

Other than house sponsors (corporate and/or faith organizations) and College Campus Chapters in good standing, volunteer groups can be scheduled up to 2 times per calendar year at the Hartford Habitat sites.

Give a Day, Get a Night

As reported on papers across the nation, about 50 hotels across the country are giving away a free night to guests who can prove that they completed at least eight hours of community service between July 1 and Dec. 20.

To qualify, you must provide a letter on the nonprofit organization's letterhead proving that you've completed the volunteer work at a 501c3 organization such as Meals on Wheels or Habitat for Humanity.
